In a diesel engine, pistons are the hardest-working components. Gases expanding during combustion must be converted into mechanical energy by the piston. As a result, diesel engines operate at much higher pressures and temperatures, placing a greater strain on their pistons.

A variety of metallic materials are used to construct our pistons, including eutectic aluminum, ductile iron, and steel alloy. For durability, ring grooves and crown areas are usually treated with anodizing and nitriding. Scuff protection is provided by anti-friction coatings such as tinning, phosphate, and graphite during the initial engine break-in. Each piston is designed and manufactured to meet or exceed the most rigorous and stringent specifications.
